Falb Fee (Pharaoh & Fee) Coturnix Quail are a popular mutation here at South East Game Birds and are characterised by their striking, monochrome plumage of black, white, and grey, having the red pigment (pheomelanin) removed. Falb Fee is an incomplete dominant gene, diluting its pharaoh base colour to create shades of black, white and grey. This mutation is feather sexable from around 3 weeks of age with females showing a speckled chest, while males having a cleaner white chest.

They are considered productive layers to those looking for a backyard flock, producing a large number of quality eggs, if provided with the correct number of daylight hours.

The rooster in this covey is heterozygous Fee and the hens are heterozygous and homozygous Fee, giving you a combination of both phenotypes. A small percentage may hatch as Pharaoh. There may also be recessive genes not visually seen.
